Flight Delay Compensation - Your Air Passenger Rights

Flight Delay Compensation
Your Air Passenger Rights

There is nothing worse than the exciting bubble of going on holiday to be burst by a delayed or cancelled flight. We find that often, many passengers are unaware that their rights are protected under Regulation (EC) No 261/2004, meaning airlines are getting away without reimbursing their passengers. Well no more!

If your flight was delayed for 3 hours+ upon arriving at the destination airport, then you are entitled to compensation up to £510.00 under Regulation EC No 261/2004. However, this is providing that the delay was caused by the airline and not an ‘extraordinary circumstance’ e.g adverse weather.

If the delay was for more than 2 hours, airlines are under a duty to provide care and assistance. They should at the very least provide free meals, refreshments, 2 phone calls and access to email.

In case of an overnight delay, hotel accommodation and transport facility between airport and hotel should also be provided. The airline must bear the cost of this, not you.

As long as you have a valid ticket, you are able to request the free amenities.
